STEREO!!

So, post op day 12 (yesterday) was a disaster. Hot mess of a dumpster fire, and I was driving the struggle bus. I could not understand anything from anyone!! Emailed my Audiologists (have I mentioned that she is FREAKING AWESOME?) and she got me in this morning to see what was going on. Seems that between me playing with my setting (why are there buttons if I can’t push them??LOL) and my brain throwing a tantrum because sound was only on one side, it was a recipe for disaster. Soooo, she called the Dr. Nelson ( my Rock Star Surgeon!) and they decided to impromptu turn on the new ear!!! Wait, what??? Yep, no days of prep, no anxiety of build up, just BANG! Right here, right now. Those that know me understand that for me, this is perfectly fine and normal! If I plan more than an hour in advance, something shiny will distract me and ruin those plans!! LOL

Anyway, so here I am worried that it won’t be as awesome as last time. I mean to be honest it was a once in a blue moon occurrence-but you want sooo much for it to be the same. First came the beeps, then the words!! Far off and soft at first, but once again I heard the Zylons!! The synthesizer was on point, but I was able to make some stuff out. She started with a story with her dace covered-nope nada. Dang it. Let’s move on and try something else-words, but this time I get to see them on paper and choose out of the two. Okay, we can do this. First couple tentative, but hey- we got them!!!! Okay, let’s move to sentences. Got it! Now take away the visual cues-we got this!!! HOLY COW!! I can HEAR IN STEREO!!! Not just stereo, DIGITAL stereo!!! LOL by the time I left, I was able to have a complete conversation in the hallway with one of the other AWESOME Audiologists WITH a mask and no problem!!!! HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?? I can tell you that the fantastic Implant Team at IU/Riley is beyond a doubt the best out there. Ms. Alicia is my hero, and quite literally saved my life😁😜.
