I’M STILL KICKIN’!

Wow! I did not realize how long it’s been since I blogged! Life has a way of getting you out of the habit of things you want to do!! LOL it has been an absolutely crazy summer! Between changing jobs and having a couple little medical set backs, things have been interesting to say the least.

So, I’ve made it to the age where you are supposed to start getting “that” checkup. You know, the dreaded colonoscopy! Yup, I though having to trim my eye brows was bad!!😝 This past spring our Fire Chief had his first colonoscopy and they found he had cancer. He had surgery and is doing great, but it was a wake up call for several of us. I was having some minor issues, and my yearly blood work came back with some stuff out of whack, so the doctor decided it would be best if they had me do a liver biopsy and endoscopy and colonoscopy. I can assure you that all the stories you hear are true😜 in all reality, I wish I had done it sooner, turns out I have Celiac Disease (same as the Oldest Munchkin). This left untreated had caused some liver damage-nothing major yet, but enough to be a bit of a scare for for wife😁 So, now I get to have a diet with no wheat. It’s not so bad, and I’m feeling better than I have in years. Basically, don’t wait or put off getting that colonoscopy when you turn 45, it might save your life!!

So what other fun stuff has been going on?

How cool is my job! To get the opportunity to work with an amazing team and see things like this on a regular basis is beyond words! I am so thankful that my “new” ears have allowed me to pursue my dreams!! Without my Cochlear Implants, this opportunity would never have happened!😁 I am so excited to be doing something meaningful!! (And getting awesome experiences!😜)

I am also excited to say, that I am starting the next step in my career! I am starting Anatomy and Physiology class this week in preparation for Paramedic Class! My goal when I got back into EMS was to become a Paramedic, and that is soon to be a reality!!!! I got accepted into the LifeLine Paramedic Course that starts in January 😁😁I had given up on this dream years ago when my hearing started to go, but the opportunity presented itself, so I jumped!!😜 I can not express how blessed I am to have a wife who has supported me each step of the way. This is a huge deal for us, and will require a lot of time and effort over the next year, but how cool is it that I will finally get to be like Johnny Gage??!🤣🤣😁

I have not given up on my fabrication, I have had a couple little projects that I’m working on-the most challenging has been to modify our Fire Department’s Water Rescue Boat trailer. We were fortunate enough to have some Businesses in the community come together and donate money to purchase a second boat and a larger trailer. Since we are now able to offer more resources, we needed a way to get them where they are needed. This meant modification to the trailer to carry two boats. So, here are some pictures-it’s not done yet, but we are getting it there!

Hopefully, it won’t be so long between blogs! Next time I should have some finished pictures !
