Life Changes….

My Cochlear Implants have drastically changed my life, is an understatement. While my hearing is “perfect” my comprehension is getting better every day. Im learning what I need to do to get better at understanding, and using the technology available now to make the best of what I have. It’s an every changing journey that is opening doors back up, that I long thought were closed for good. To that end I am starting not just a new chapter, but as a friend pointed out- A new book! I have been working on doors and locks for over 20 years, and this week I decided to take a step to better my family by accepting a position as a full time EMT.

I passed my National Registry and became certified with the State of Indiana as an EMT! This has been an adventure I could not have done without my implants, or the support of my family. There are so many people that have helped make this goal achievable and I can’t thank them enough- but mostly my wife who has stood by me and put up with all the ups and downs that this hearing journey has thrown at us! She is the Rock Star that keeps me motivated, and navigates this crazy life!!

Next week I start orientation for the new position, and I can not express how excited I am for the opportunity. but in the mean time, I get to brag about my Oldest Munchkin that has rocked out her Freshman Year at Monmouth College, kicking A@# and not bothering with the names! She has worked through injuries with track and picked up a new field event-Javelin! Who would of thought that she would get into that?? LOL But not only track has been awesome, she was also awarded Freshman Woman of the Year! Not that I proud or anything! We got to see her in a track meet were she got a PR, then had a dinner with us as a family-man do we miss her, but she is showing that she can make her own way in this world and she will leave her mark no doubt! I will put photos up as soon as I figure out how to make it a work!! LOL New computer means more for me to learn!

It’s been a crazy few weeks, and there has been so much going on, I am hoping that in the next month, I can slow down and take some time to do more blogging, and enjoy more of what is going on. I am a lucky guy, that gets to do some amazing things with a great group of people, and I can’t wait to do some more!

Thanks to our great PIO, here are some cool pics from some recent training!
